Let's have a conversation about prints/patterns shall we?! Point blank... I need them. The more the merrier...What I'm really into is a mixture of different ethnic inspired pieces all thrown together borderline in a hot jumbled mess lol. Enough throw pillows to make you flop on the couch and never get up. I saw these images from Because I'm Addicted (who isn't addicted) and was like, woa... hold the phone... you gots-ta- gimme dat. So slowly but surely, I began my hunt.

Accompanied with brilliantly colored prints, I need more brass pieces. Moroccan, Syrian, Turkish, Tibetan... all so lovely and intricately detailed. But that calls for another post, I've seen a few vintage lamps and chandeliers here and there... I'm just patiently waiting for their prices to creep down a bit more.

So like I was saying earlier... prints and patterns galore. This is a first in my (hopefully many) posts about playful printed textiles and where I can get my hands on them. As much as I would love to travel to Morocco, India, Egypt and especially Turkey it is not quite possible at the moment.

Enter: the internet lol, a useful yet sometimes annoying invention gives us access to new and exciting trades. Duh, you know this thing works. Anywho, I stumbled upon this Etsy shop: Mother's Atelier and immediately fell head over heals for these pillows as it reminded me of the inspirational photos from Lonngren/Widell.

I know... I know...let it all sink in. I love it too. The pillows hail from Istanbul, Turkey and prices range from about $40 - $230. So it's got something for everyone.

I won't lie... lmao... im pretty pleased with the title of this post lol.

I saw this post on Apartment Therapy and thought it was the cutest idea. Especially because I started off the year by reading, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (which by the way it's awesome so far)... and no I haven't seen the movie yet... I have to finish the book first lol. But I digress...once again. I made one this morning using bright green construction paper and it was pretty easy-peasy lemon squeezy. Thinking about making an army of hearts from great graphics/prints from an assortment of my favorite magazines! Ya know... mix it up a bit.

And who knows, perhaps I'll make a few for my boyfriend for that corny holiday (that I secretly love)... Valentine's day.

Operating in a studio with minimal boundaries or restraints to promote and advance the world in which we live. That's kind of my ideal design world ya know, but at the same time it's a pretty slippery slope. Multi-disciplinary design.... I'm into it. She literally is living my idyllic life. I have drawn ever since I could hold a pencil and I studied architecture in undergrad so it kind of goes without saying that I would love nothing more than to occupy the space between art, fashion and architecture and live a simple half-urban-half country life like she does... to have someone that loves reconstructing old homes just as much as I do. Granted, I haven't reconstructed/renovated an old home before... what do you want I'm only 23 lol. Hopefully, I will. I know I will.

Has anyone else noticed the wave of varsity jackets rolling in on the blog-o-sphere or is it just me? Regardless, I have always loved this kind of jacket super easy yet packed with loads of timeless style (even though its screams 1950's sock-hop its still extra timeless).

I had a chance to buy one at a vintage shop in Chelsea, NY during fashion week and I didn't. I know... I'm a moron lol. Firstly, I need to pledge my allegiance to Garance Dore. She takes such amazing portraits.

Love the black on white tones. Minimal graphic or pattern mixing here. Its just straight tone on tone. I've been seeing a lot of black walls in apartments and homes and I absolutely love it. Although I's love to the see the dimensions of the rooms with black walls. If you don't have a large room or massive windows to let in light, it would probably be a bit of a drag.

Anywho... The photo above is one of my all time favorites. The outfit is just perfectly perfect with a touch of bright color. That being said its easy to see the relationship between the outfit and the spaces. Graphic with pops of color. That chandelier looks like a computer model right before it renders. I'm an architecture nerd clearly.

Fall is among us. Personally, its my favorite part of the year. The weather is crisp with a hint of winter air. Of course where I live the weather remains in the low 70's perfect enough for a a layer or two which forces you to keep your style pretty simple emphasis on accessories like a great scarf, bag, scarf and a great laugh (ok ok I'm a cornball lol). Roxy/Quicksilver: The summer before my freshman year of high school **cough...6 years ago...coughcough**, I entered a nation-wide Roxy/Quicksilver Design a Swimsuit competition. 25,000 entries were submitted and low-and-behold I WON! I will never forget that amazing experience and needless to say it inspired my love for fashion. (I would have scanned pictures, but I posted this 3am...enough said)
Killing Me Softly: On my NYC trip, I sang a snippet of the Carpenters Killing Me Softly in a resturant. Nervous, you bet your sweet ass I was...fun, definitely!
Architrave Magazine: I am an architecture student and completely love it. My work was recognized and published in an on-campus architecture magazine, Architrave. Here is a picture of the published project. The project is 4ft by 2.5ft made from basswood and all hand painted. Wish I could say more, but this post doesn't need to grow any longer than it already is. I'm soooo proud of it...
Prom Queen: My senior year of high school I was voted prom queen. Three years later, I still have the crown... I'm waiting for the perfect outfit to wear it with lol.

Tardy: I'm late to just about everything....EVERYTHING! I'm not proud of it... but it's the truth. My boyfriend loathes it.

ANTM Moment: When I cut my hair a few months ago, I cried like a baby. It was quite pathetic... and funny at the same time. I call it my, America's Next Top Model moment.... the girls always cry when they get a makeover. I used to laugh at those girls... now I am one of those girls lmao. Oh well... I'm in love with it now

I Lost My Pants: I have definitely had my fair share of embarrassing moments, but this one takes the cake. In 8th grade, I was playing basketball with all the boys on an outdoor court. Long story short... the ball went over the fence, I went under the fence to retrieve the it, when I jumped up off the ground... my pants+underwear stayed on the ground. Embarrassed... you bet my bare ass I was....

Lately, I have been so inspired by Lanvin and Dries Van Noten, I had to pay a little homage. I found the yellow top and this charcoal skirt at a thrift store and immediately thought of this Lanvin look. The geometry is quite different but the colors are spot on (yay)! I also bought little-boy brown oxfords today and I can't wait to wear them. During the day I changed my wedges to flats... I can't wear heels for a long time... my dogs bark...LOUD!

Sorry about the picture quality... again. The sun has been hiding from us Floridians. I think the lack of sun may be the culprit, but I'm not completely sure. The picture quality from this past post turned out great (yep, same camera), so I'm pretty disappointed in my latest posts :(. Any suggestions?

Today was so beautiful; the weather, the company... everything. My roommate, Tracy and I went thrifting downtown. Tracy made off like a bandit with all sorts of thrited goods... I unfortunately did not. O well, it honestly didn't bother me because just trying on clothes was fun.

So I don't hate my camera as much anymore lol. I don't know what changed my mind, it could be because I am no longer using a tripod (I am home so my little brother is taking my pics hence the mini photo-shoot), or it could be the fact that I took the photos in daylight rather than artificial. I don't know but I think the picture quality is much improved, wouldn't you say?

On another note, I made the top I'm wearing. It wasn't a serious DIY (I'm all about the 2 minute DIYs lol). Seriously, the scarf is like 10 ft long and 2.5 ft wide, so I wrapped it around the twins and called it a day. It was the scarf I used in this post.

So a funny thing happened to me two days ago, my computer charger died, thus so did my computer (and quite frankly myself). Not seeing the funny part, ya neither was I. So I took my laptop in for a check up at best buy to investigate whether or not it was indeed my charger that died or something else. Good news- it was my charger and it was easily replaceable. Bad news- in order to get a new one I would have to fork over $90.00. Painful. Extremely painful. So I called up the pops to inform him of my dilemma and ask if he happen to have a spare charger lying around the house. And to my great delight he said, "Yes, in fact its brand new. You need it"? Um ,hell ya I do! Needless to say I owe my daddy (my super-hero :)! This one goes out to you pops... you be da bomb son (does anyone even say that anymore)! lol

Don't you wish life was always that easy?

Later in the day, I switched to wearing these flats from Urban Thread... my feet were barking.

I woke up today and thought to myself, I want that Alexander Wang dress, I must have it. And since that wasn't going to happen anytime soon, I decided to quickly make one with a dress I recently purchased from the Gap a few weeks back. It came with this incredibly long (and wide) scarf that I was unsure what to do with in this summer heat until now. So I draped the scarf around the dress and pinned it in place, voila! Instant A. Wang (sorta lol).

Oh ya, I don't know if you can tell in this photo, but I chopped my hair off! It took some getting used to... but I like it.

I must say, Miranda Kerr definitely hit it out of the park with her Jil Sander ensemble. The dress had the right amount of edge for the MET Gala.

Kate Bosworth, wearing one of my favorite designers, Stella McCartney, definitely mezmerised me with her classic beauty, grace and elegance.

Oh Ashley Olsen, wearing The Row, you are a style genius. Ashley has an eye for minimalistic peices and she wears them so well. She kept it simple and elegant. Her haircut is too chic for words. I'm not quite sure what is on her back, but I do know one thing, I like it.

Dear Diary,

Here is what I wore a few days ago but now for more important matters. For the first time in my life, as a 20 year old, well informed (I might add) woman, I voted in the United States presidential elections. It was incredible to know that all american voters hold the fate of the presidential nominees. History is in the making in so many ways.

"Americans are voting in one of the most historic U.S.
elections. Democrat Barack Obama could become the first African-American
president. Republican John McCain could become the oldest president elected to a
first term. Sarah Palin could become the first woman elected vice president.
Record voter turnout also is predicted. "

I know most individuals don't publicize who they voted for, but I'm not most individuals. So I will proudly say who I gave my vote for and why. I voted for Barack Obama not just because he could potentially be the first (mixed) African and White-American to hold the presidential position but because of what he respresents. Barack Obama represnts a new wave of politicans whose focus lies on the people. He represents the unification of the different races around the world. This hope for unification between the people made tangible by the mixture of his skin color. He stands for the rights and political freedoms of the people. He is a beacon of hope for a world starving for it.

Good luck Barack Obama and Joe Biden!

Hiatus No More?

Woooooaa... I ususally start out my entries like this, but darn it this saying finally seemed fitting, "it has been an extremely long time since I have blogged".

School is as usual, extradinarily intense. The architecture program at UF has not changed since last year (as if I was expecting it to). It is hard as hell, but strangely enough I love every minute of it. The only thing I miss doing is my newly favorite pass time...blogging. Anywho, here are my inspirations for the fall/winter. Umm... can anyone say, "I can't wait to dress for fall!" because I surely can.

So in an attempt to celebrate fall's homecoming... I shopped. I shopped so hard, I dropped... I dropped a lot of money. And it felt soo good. I can't wait for the weather to really change (if it ever will... it's Florida). Hopefully, I can find some time to take photos of my outfits. Hopefully...

Goodbye Summer...
Here are a few images in remembrance of summer and the birth of my little blog.

Today, I said goodbye to summer and (it's about to get a little personal :) my best friend, who also happens to be my boyfriend. We go to different universities (about 3 hrs from each other) and today, due to Hurrican Fay, I had to say my tearful 'so long'. I shouldn't have cried as much as I did. Oh well! I will see him 2 weeks from now...

I will miss this summer.

But at least I have something to look forward to... decorating my apartment!
On Thursday, I move back up to school and I will dive head first into putting the finishing touches on my room. These interior spaces make me so happy and one can only dream of having a room like this.

As I say goodbye to summer, I wave hello to fall.

MIA...I have been missing in action and I will probably be for a little while longer. School starts next monday (25th) and it will probably require most if not all of my time...

Banana Pancakes and Dreamscapes

Currently, I'm working on getting my FIRST apartment together up at school. All summer I have been dreaming of a unique room primarily draped in rich colors such as yellow, green and turqiouse. Unfortunately, I have been dreaming of a room that I can't quite turn into a physical reality. Don't get me wrong, it is getting there, but it is also taking a bit longer than expected.

So to help me gather my thoughts, I refer to the numerous blogs that provide interior design inspiration. Blogs not unlike the one I happily stumbled across a few weeks ago. Banana Pancakes and Dreamscapes is a collection of witty commentary and beautiful photographs that define my ideal living space. I fell in love with the rooms and items that were featured on this delightful blog. Good thing too, because the author of this blog just so happens to be my roommate!

Salute Your Shorts

The other day, I saw this picture of Victoria Beckham and loved her outfit from the edgy bob to the baggy jeans to the feminine top. She looked so comfortable... so this picture became an inspiration for me.

So with Victoria's outfit in mind, here is what I wore today to go furniture (and even a little clothes) shopping. I stole my little brother's camo shorts and wore them today with a simple tank and my gladiotors.

Oh, and I will let you in on a little inside joke... the big smile today is for my boyfriend. He thinks I should smile more in my pictures lol. There you go Zachary, a smile on my blog... just for you and so is the extra 'scowl' in my last photo.

Style can be either one or two things: Simple or Complicated. Each can be complex in very different ways and each can be extradinarily beautiful. When pertaining to my style though, I perfer to keep it simple. Less is more in my book, yet that does not mean I am not inspired or in love with the more complicated looks that I have seen. It's all beauty to me...

Anywho, I'm usually not a big fan of the "jean on jean" look, but today I could not resist. I hadn't worn my 70's inspired vest in a while so I thought I would take it out for a spin (check out the back of my vest...too cool hehe). . .So I paired it with some cigarette jeans and called it a day :)

Question: Again, I'm wearing my new favorite shoes, but I am unsure as to what to call them... gladiators or bandage style sandals? I mean, it really does not matter too much, but I've been wondering hehe

Today was the craziest shopping day ever and I'm not just talking about how many people were out and about taking advantage of the July 4th sales. Yet I will not bore you with the details or even the story at all hahha. All I know is that I bought 2 adorable items that I can hopefully wear as soon as possible. I was ready and had the funds to shop until I dropped, but due the craziness that occured today... I wasn't able.

Stained Cobalt

In 1802, Louis Jacques Thénard, a French chemist discovered a color so glorious, so vibrant it burned the retinas of all the Parisian townspeople in that time period. Okay, so that didn't really happen, but he really did unearth one of the most majestic colors the world (more like I) have ever seen... Cobalt blue. I will spare you all with the boring details of how he found this color... frankly because I didn't feel like reading any more of Wikipedia.com (yes ladies and gentlemen, wikipedia can be a reliable source of information). So here is where I pay hommage to the Christopher Columbus, the Ponce de Leon of colors... Louis Jacques Thénard. Thank you sir, thank you for discovering cobalt, so that women and men everywhere can wear a color that dazzles as much as wearer does(corny, but true)!

Anyways, back to earth. Today, I went thrifting with one of my dearest friends, Holly and found a fantastic leather envelope-style clutch! It's 100% real leather and was imported from Italy (ahh, brilliant)! I scooped it up immediately. Yay to cobalt and yay to vintage purses! O and I had to wear my yellow gladiators... I think it suited the shape of the dress. It draped beautifully when I belted it... it had a casual Grecian feel that felt perfect for the summer.
